Skiing Hot-Spots Near Our Apartments in Massachusetts

Want to get your feet in the snow? If you live at our apartments in Massachusetts, then you might know of some of the skiing hot-spots in the area. For anyone who loves winter sports, we’ve gathered a list of some of our favorite places to go for downhill, or cross-country skiing.

SKI BLANDFORD

Ski Blandford is located in Blandford, MA and is a forty-minute drive from most of our apartments in Massachusetts. The mountain is about 1,280 feet with 132 skiable acres, 3 double lifts, a magic carpet, and surface tow rope. If you don’t know how to ski, there are many options you can go through to learn how to ski or snowboard. From regular lessons, a 6-week after school program, and a homeschooling program, there are plenty of options for everyone. If you don’t have any gear, rentals are also available, so you can always try a new winter sport!

BERKSHIRE EAST MOUNTAIN

The drive is a little longer, but it will be worth it when you get to Berkshire East Mountain. This ski resort is in Charlesmont, Massachusetts and will be about an hour from most of our apartments in Massachusetts. Berkshire East Mountain has about 1,840 feet in elevation, 180 acres of skiable area, and 45 trails. This mountain is great when you want to enjoy less crowded trails with more options for skiing or snowboarding. Not to mention, there is also a snow-tubing park that is a favorite for kids and adults alike. The mountain includes six lifts which are chair and surface lifts. If you’re a fan of going green, then you’ll also love the fact that the resort is powered by solar panels and wind turbines. If you’re in need of lessons, group and private lessons are always on the schedule. If you have kids, you can also sign them up for the Berkshire East Ski team, no matter what their skill levels are.

JIMINY PEAK

If you’re open to longer drives for bigger mountains, then check out Jiminy Peak in Hancock, Massachusetts, located about an hour and fifteen minutes from most of our apartment communities. Jiminy Peak has 2,380 feet of elevation to make your ride skiing or snowboarding down the mountain that much more exciting. There are 167 acres of skiable area to explore, 45 trails, and 9 nine lifts, which means you can spend all day on the slopes and never feel bored. Like most resorts, private and group lessons are offered, as well as many other programs. One program that stands out form the rest is the Adaptive Lessons for those with physical, cognitive, or developmental disabilities so anyone can ride down the mountain safely. For anyone looking for regular lessons, you can also hang out in the Discovery Zone while you’re getting used to your skis or snowboard. This is designed for those who are brand-new to winter sports and will provide a safe place to learn without being stuck at the top of the mountain.

SKI SUNDOWN

Massachusetts isn’t the only place in the area for skiing! In fact, Connecticut even has Ski Sundown. This ski slope is 1,075 feet, has 70 acres of skiable area and also has two triple chair lifts and two conveyors to help you get up the mountain. Group and private lessons are available, and there are also clubs you can join to improve your skiing. This includes the Women’s Skiing Club, the Men’s Clinic, and a variety of programs for kids and teens. No matter who you are, you’ll be able to find a place for yourself on the mountain. Or if you like to live on the wild side and practice ticks, the Terrain Park will be your new favorite spot. Ski Sundown is located about fifty minutes from most of our apartments in Massachusetts.

MAPLE CORNER FARM

Not into downhill skiing or snowboarding but still love to take a dive into the snow? Try cross country skiing! At Maple Corner Farm you can try out cross country skiing, or even snow shoeing! With over 20 kilometers of marked ski trails and 10 kilometers of snowshoe trails, you’re bound to enjoy your time outside, all while getting in a great workout! On the weekends, skiing lessons are offered by appointment, so any skill level is welcome. As you ski or snowshoe, enjoy the views of pastures, meadows, and streams, all covered with a layer of snow to make things look magical. After spending the entire day outside, you’re also welcome to come into The Center for hot chocolate to warm up. Don’t have the equipment? No problem! Maple Corner Farm also offers rentals for anything you may need. Maple Corner Farm is also located about forty-five minutes from most of our apartments in Massachusetts.
