Must-See Christmas Lights in Massachusetts
One favorite tradition that most people love to take part in during the holiday season is to drive around to see the best Christmas displays in the area. Whether the displays are put on by neighbors in the holiday spirit, or a local attraction, fun is had by all while watching the twinkling lights.
One of the largest Christmas light displays is right in our back yard. Those that live in our Massachusetts apartments will find that Bright Nights at Forest Park is located right around the corner in Springfield, Massachusetts. This year Bright Nights is celebrating their twenty-fifth year of holiday celebrations, and in that time the light displays have expanded. Some of the newer displays include Winter Garden, Jurassic World, Kwanzaa, and many more. It’s been included in American Bus Association’s “Top 100 Attractions in North America,” and has also been named by People magazine as “One of the Top Ten Holiday Happenings in America.” Since opening, Bright Nights has welcomed over five million visitors.
Tune Your Radio to Hear Santa
Bright Nights is a drive-through holiday lights experience. Once you enter Forest Park, you’ll be able to “ohh” and “ahh” at the lights as you drive through. To add to the experience, you can also tune your radio to their custom radio station, WELF 100.7 FM. You’ll notice the lights will stay in beat with the music and you’ll also hear from Santa himself as you make your drive through the park.
Stop in for a Snack
About halfway through the drive, you’ll find a parking area where you can pull over to take a moment to stretch, or head to the snack area for some holiday treats. On cold winter days, the crowd favorite is always the steaming hot chocolate.
Get a photo with Santa
Before you leave, make sure you spot Santa, because he’ll be at Bright Nights every night leading up to Christmas to take photos with the kids and make it an even more jolly time!
A Horse-Drawn Carriage Ride
What’s even better than driving through the lights? Make the experience even more memorable by taking a horse-drawn carriage ride through some of the attractions. But make sure you buy your ticket in advance, because they’re selling out quick!
Crafts, Choral Groups and More!
There is always more to discover at Bright Lights. Some of the activities that continually go on are craft nights for the kids, choral concerts put on by local high schools, and super with Santa.
