'Tis the season! If you’re lucky enough to be a host of a holiday party this year, then you may be overwhelmed by the thought of preparing your home. How much food should you cook? How should you entertain everyone? How many people can you fit in your apartment, along with your Christmas tree? While we can’t help you with everything, we do have a few decorating tips that will bring the holidays to your apartment, while still leaving plenty of space to party!

Table-Top Christmas Tree

While most of our apartments have plenty of space for a full-size Christmas tree, you might be looking for ways to decorate without needing to dedicate an entire room to a tree. Shake things up a bit by getting a smaller, table-top tree. Not only will it be easier to decorate, but it won’t get in the way when you have a room full of guests.

Decorate Your Patio or Balcony

Have you ever seen holiday movies where garland and lights are intertwined on a staircase? Or maybe a house is covered in Christmas lights? Owning an apartment doesn’t mean you have to miss out on decorating, it just means you have to get a little more creative. Use your patio or balcony as a space to express your holiday cheer with lights, garland, and any other decor you can come up with! Just be sure to check with the leasing office with any questions as to what is or is now allowed on patios or balconies.

Christmas Card Tree

If you get a lot of Christmas cards every year, but don’t know what to do with them, we’ve got a solution! Find a blank wall in your apartment and arrange the cards into the shape of a Christmas tree. It will light up the space, display all your cards, and might even be a conversation starter.

Wrap Your Front Door

Want to wow your guests before they step into your apartment? Wrap your front door like a present, complete with bow and ribbon. It might take some careful placement of tape, but the colorful wrapping paper will make it well worth it!

Mini Wreaths on Kitchen Cabinets

It’s easy enough to decorate your living room with holiday throw pillows and blankets, but most people overlook the kitchen. A fun way to bring the holidays to where all the delicious food is being prepared, is to hang miniature wreaths on your cabinets. They’re cute, simple, and will stay out of your way while you’re cooking.

Gingerbread Centerpiece

Speaking of food, did you think gingerbread was just for eating? It’s time to start decorating a gingerbread house, because not only will it be a fun activity for your party guests to do, but you can also use the gingerbread house as a centerpiece at your table! Either bake the gingerbread from scratch or buy a kit at your nearest grocery store. Either way, everyone will have a blast making their candy masterpieces.
