10 Ways to Get Spooked in Massachusetts for Halloween

As the countdown to Halloween begins, you may be thinking about attending some of the many Halloween events on the horizon. If you live in one of our Massachusetts apartment locations, you know there is plenty to do and see in the area. To help you make the most of your time in October, we’ve narrowed it down to our ten favorite ways to get scared and experience the best of Halloween.

Demented FX

Looking for a haunted house that is sure to leave you quaking? Demented FX in Holyoke, Massachusetts was rated as the number one haunted house in Massachusetts in 2018 and also received the highest scare factor rating in the United States last year. Try their Bio Med Haunted House or the new Meat Talk Horror Experience open now through October 27th. Visit Demented FX, only minutes away from our apartments in Chicopee, Massachusetts.

The Sleepy Hallow Experience

If you’ve ever wanted to encounter the Headless Horseman, The Sleep Hallow Experience is just what you’re looking for. Explore Old Sturbridge Village in the dark as you’re guided through the countryside to meet Ichabod Crane, Katrina Van Tassel, Brom Bones, and maybe even the Headless Horseman. Shows take place on Wednesday, Thursdays and Sundays, now through November 3. Tickets are going fast, so make sure to reserve your spot in the Sleep Hallow Experience, which is located about forty minutes from most of our apartments in Massachusetts.

Spooky Safari at the Zoo

Looking to get scared but have kiddos? Join the family-friendly event at the Zoo in Forest Park and Education Center.  Families gather each year to the Spooky Safari for trick-or-trick, decorating pumpkins, games and so much more! Visit over two hundred animals and compete in the costume contest all in the same place. This year the event takes place October 26th from 1pm to 4pm. Six Flags, Fright Fest

Ride a roller coaster by day and experience your worst nightmare by night. Once the sun goes down at Six Flags, the ghosts and ghouls are let loose in the park. Walk around the park to experience some of the live performances put on by the undead, or try out some of the haunted houses and scare zones. Learn more about Fright Fest and get your tickets.

Freaky Funk: Halloween Haunted Costume Cruise

Step about the Northern Lights cruise for a night of hauntings and dancing. Come dressed as your undead best for the costume contest and spend the night dancing to the live band and enjoy a drink at the bar. The cruise lasts about two hours and leaves from Boston Harbor at 8pm on October 31st. Be sure to reserve your tickets for the Costume Cruise, which is about an hour and a-half drive from our New Bedford, Massachusetts apartments.

Monster Mash Scream Park at McCray’s Farm

During the summer McCray’s Farm is known for their adorable ponies, mini golf and petting zoo, but come Fall, the zombies ascend. Take a hayride into the night and let the monsters handle the scares from there. With over 100 monsters waiting to greet you, you’re sure to leave full of fright. Tickets are on sale now through October 27th, so be sure to visit Monster Mash Scream Park, located only twenty minutes from our apartments in Amherst.

Zombie Pub Crawl

Are the zombies looking for brains or booze? Find out with the Zombie Pub Crawl in Northhampton, Massachusetts. On October 19th, visit any of the designated bars between 6pm and 2am for a night full of scares and a good time. Be sure to also drop by Pulaski Park at 9pm for the “Thriller Flash Mod” lead by CrazeFaze. See the list of all the bars participating in the Zombie Pub Crawl, which is just twenty minutes away from our Sunderland apartments.

Haunted Footsteps Ghost Tours

Get ready to visit Salm, Massachusetts, home of witches and a haunting history. Let the Haunted Footsteps Ghost Tours lead you through chilling cemeteries and old colonial houses known for hauntings. Lead only by lanterns, you’re sure to feel a chilling presence as you walk through this 90-minute tour, revealing Salm’s dark past. The ghosts stick around even after Halloween, so be sure to visit the Haunted Footsteps schedule to see their schedule, which is about a two-hour drive from most of our Massachusetts apartments.

Volante Farms Pumpkin Fest

If you’re looking for a family-friendly event, Volante Farms will be your favorite destination. Join them for their Seventh Annual Pumpkin Fest on October 26th. Kids can carve their pumpkins, see a magic show, have fun in the photo booth, and so much more. Once the sun goes down, enjoy the Jack-o-lantern stroll so see all the carved pumpkins lit up at night. Mike’s Maze: Cornstock 2019

When you’re looking for peace, love and music, get ready to experience Cornstock 2019. Each year Mike’s Maze creates a corn maze to solve, and this year’s theme is The Woodstock Music and Arts Festival. Get in touch with your inner hippie and enter the maze full of games, puzzles and more. Find out just how fast you can complete the maze, and don’t worry, there won’t be any zombie’s chasing you in this one.
